Scientific interests

Our research interest focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving neural stem cell fate in an altered extracellular environment upon CNS injury or disease with blood-brain barrier opening. We  are interested in identifying new extracellular cues that dictate the transcriptional regulation of NSC differentiation after CNS injury or disease.

Therefore we integrate a wide range of techniques including primary stem cell culture, histopathology, microscopy, biochemistry and animal models to address the biological complexity of disease and repair mechanisms.

Our ultimate goal is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating neuronal regeneration after CNS injury or disease for the development of novel therapeutic approaches that promote functional nervous system regeneration.
